THE CHURCH WE SEE:
In the last 25 years of Pirimai Baptist Church, we have come so far. We have seen some great things happen with our people and in our community, but we believe God is calling us into a new season. We want to draw a line in the sand and move forward in the direction we feel God is taking us.
This is our declaration for the next season:
Engage Church will be a place where people have an authentic relationship with God instead of a religion; where living for Him is no longer an obligation, but a heart-felt desire; and where service comes from devotion not from duty.
We will be a people who experience Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit, and who live in the freedom and purpose that come from knowing Him. We will take responsibility for our own spiritual journeys - discovering how God wants to use us to make a difference, and living that out within our sphere of influence.
We will be a praying church. A worshipping church. A church that is devoted, passionate, and hungry to know God more. We will be a church committed to studying and sharing the Word of God, and where teaching is based on biblical truths.
We will be a church that engages with Te Tiriti o Waitangi as the foundational document of Aotearoa NZ. We will be an intergenerational, multi-cultural church, where everyone will be valued and given the opportunity to use their gifts, knowledge and abilities to support others, impart wisdom and uplift one another.
We will raise, train and empower the next generation of children and young people to influence the world around them.
We will be a Jesus-focussed and community-facing church. We will engage with our communities in creative, practical, and Holy Spirit-inspired ways, partnering with other churches and organisations.
We will be a compassionate church, providing Kingdom-solutions to problems our society is facing, so that people will be drawn from impossible situations into a loving and engaging community of hope, where answers are found and acceptance is given. We will be a church that never stops searching for lost people because God never stops searching for us.
We know that none of this can happen through our own ability. Instead, we will be a church that is committed to prayer and dependent on the work of the Holy Spirit.

WHAT WE DO:
1. Engage Church Services
Our goal is to create an environment that draw us into worship with God, to encounter Him, and be transformed by His presence and His Word. Our hope is that this time with God will inspire us to answer God’s call to be His light in the world, to reflect not only the values of His Kingdom, but to also express His heart for the broken and lost around us.
Join us 10am Sunday.
2. Engage Children & Youth
Here at Engage Church we place a high value on children and youth. We recognize them as an integral part of God’s family. We want to build a dynamic, healthy children’s and youth ministry that is engaging young people, connecting them to Jesus, encouraging them to grow to be like Him, and equipping them to serve Him.

Groups
Engage Groups are a crucial part of our life here at church. God created us to live in community with others and we believe real, transformational growth can happen when we make a commitment to do life together, taking what God is doing inside us and working it out with other people.

Mission
As a Church, we believe that we have a God-given mandate to extend His Kingdom in our community, our city, our region, our nation and the nations of the world. This is ‘mission’. Mission involves the intentional spread of the gospel, leading people into, and discipling them in, a relationship with Jesus, and the establishment of the Kingdom of God in individual lives and in communities.

In a world increasingly disengaged from true values and purpose, our vision is to fully engage with our communities through the mission and gospel of Jesus Christ, to bring genuine transformation and hope.
HISTORY
In 1982, a small group of people had the vision to start a church in Taradale. After using rented premises for many years, in 1996 they purchased the old supermarket in Pirimai and some surrounding shops, changed the name to Pirimai Baptist Church, and started to re-energize the ‘Pirimai Plaza. For the last 25 years, Pirimai Baptist has partnered with the Lord to transform lives, strengthen families and impact the community. in 2021 Pirimai Baptist embarked on a new journey and became known as Engage Church - a church fully engaged with the good news of Jesus Christ, bringing transformation and hope to our world.
